Meet the Creator

Hi, I’m Arial—the road tripper, photographer, and creator behind America From The Road.

I’ve been writing travel guides since 2015, sharing everything from iconic routes to under-the-radar destinations you might otherwise drive right past.

What started as a passion project has grown into a full-time career built around one simple idea, helping people experience the best of the U.S. through thoughtful, well-planned travel.

My Story

Unlike many travel bloggers, I didn’t come from a corporate background—I’ve always been drawn to hands-on, outdoor work and a life that felt a little less conventional.

Before this, I worked as a zookeeper and later ran my own business hosting educational reptile programs. That eventually led me back to school, where I earned a degree in Environmental Science and Natural Resource Management.

My work took me across the U.S. and beyond—from tracking desert tortoises in Nevada to studying orangutans in Indonesia, monitoring orcas in Washington, and working in salmon conservation.

Travel was always part of the journey.

In 2014, my husband and I made the decision to live in a van and explore the country more deeply. At the time, there weren’t many practical resources for road trippers. So I started creating the kind of guides we wished existed.

That’s how America From The Road began.

Where it all began

In 2014, my husband and I made a decision that would change everything. We moved into a van and started exploring the country full-time.

Back then, vanlife wasn’t a trend. There weren’t endless guides or polished resources explaining how to make it work. Most travel blogs felt more like personal journals than practical tools.

So we figured it out as we went.

We spent weeks at a time in places most people only pass through, watching full moons rise over desert landscapes, waking up inside national parks, and getting to know places in a way that only happens when you stay awhile.

It wasn’t always easy. Finding places to shower, figuring out where to sleep, and navigating the unknown came with a learning curve.

But it also sparked an idea.

What if there was a resource that actually answered the questions road trippers had?

That’s how this website began.

The first articles I ever wrote were simple, practical guides—where to park overnight on a road trip, and where to shower on the road. Over time, those grew into detailed itineraries and destination guides designed to make travel easier, smoother, and more intentional.

By 2018, what started as a side project had become something much bigger.
