Annual attendance tops a whopping 500,000 guests — that’s half a million people every year!
This mammoth-sized fair takes place in Todd Mission, Texas, every weekend throughout October and November. First launched in 1974, the festival now spans 55 acres and is absolutely jam-packed with performances, attractions, and immersive experiences that go far beyond your typical Renaissance fair.
Around 500 costumed performers bring the grounds to life with shows on 25 stages, while 350 artisan vendors sell a massive range of handmade goods — from period clothing and swords to pottery, jewelry, and one-of-a-kind creations. The day ends with a bang at The Queen’s Royal Finale, a celebration in the arena complete with fireworks!
Some of the standout shows at TRF include the Birds of Prey exhibition, School of Sword, the Clan Tynker Family Circus, and the show-stopping Hanlon Action Theater, which presents a historically accurate medieval jousting reenactment featuring armored knights, costumed horses, and authentic weapons. But wait — there’s more. TRF also offers elephant rides, escape rooms, and absinthe tastings.
And unlike most Renaissance festivals, the Texas Renaissance Festival has onsite camping! Visitors can bring a tent, park an RV, or rent a cabin.
