Old Place Restaurant in Agoura Hills
Old Place is a historic restaurant located in a little hamlet called Cornell which is nestled deep in the hills of Agoura. If you’re looking for a memorable steakhouse experience in the Conejo Valley, this place is a must visit!
This local hidden gem which first opened in 1970, offers guests the opportunity to unwind in a rustic Old West inspired setting. The charming restaurant is not only heavy on atmosphere but also offers reliably good food.
They are known for using fresh ingredients and in fact there is not even a freezer on their premises. Most of their fare is slow-roasted over red oak. Although the menu is limited, meals are hearty and extremely filling. And you certainly can expect generous portions!
Entrees include oak grilled steaks; sirloin, ribeye, and bone-in fillet. Their other specialties include beef stew, chicken pot pie, half chicken with white sage marinade, and portabello mushrooms.
You can expect the steaks to be seasoned well and cooked to perfection. Everything here is quite flavorful including the gigantic loaded baked potato which is served with all entrees.
Something you’ll need to keep in mind about dining here is that seating inside is very limited. Unless you’re a party of three or more you will be seated at the bar for dinner. If you don’t want to eat at the bar you are welcome to order your food to-go and enjoy outside where there are other seating areas.
The Old Place is only open from Thursday to Sunday. Full service dining inside the restaurant is only available from 4pm to 9pm but closed on Sunday.

Sunrose California Eatery in Agoura Hills
Sunrose California Eatery is a stylish restaurant in Agoura Hills offering farm to table fare. The menu can be described as classic Californian with a modern twist. Almost everything here is crafted in-house.
They have a creative menu composed of breakfast and brunch dishes along with Roman-style flatbreads served from 7am to 3pm, as well as “later in the day items” served after 10pm.
On the breakfast menu you’ll find typical Californian healthy options like oatmeal, yogurt and granola, ricotta toast, and of course a variety of avocado toast options. The Dutch pancakes with powdered sugar, whipped Chantilly cream, maple syrup, and fresh fruit served in a hot skillet is a definite crowd pleaser.
The standout flatbread is the “Early Summer” which is topped with ricotta and mozzarella, grilled peach and nectarines, arugula, and balsalmic glaze.
Popular “later in the day” items include a crispy pork belly sandwich and elote soup made with Mexican street corn, poblano, vegan feta, and cilantro. If you enjoy trying innovative dishes order the curry buttermilk fried chicken served with tzatziki and cucumbers or patatas bravas (crispy Japanese sweet potatoes served with aleppo honey, fresno chillis, whipped ricotta, and pistachio dukkah).
From Thursday through Saturday they offer an evening menu with dishes like steak frites, coconut curry halibut, sesame chicken schnitzel, and a few other items that differ from the daytime menu.
California Eatery can be found inside Whizin Market Square. Note that this establishment is a café, market, restaurant and bar, all in one.
The adjacent counter-service cafe and market does offer grab-and-go items like pastries and coffee. Highly recommended are the house specialty drinks, especially the rosemary latte and lavendar latte.
Crawford Social in Westlake Village
Crawford Social is a massive 15,000 square foot restaurant in Westlake Village that serves shareable California coastal cuisine. Shareable plates include dishes like jumbo lump crab cake with lemon-remoulade, smoked scallops with parsnip puree, Calabrian meatballs, filet mignon sliders, baby back ribs, and bacon wrapped dates. They also have a selection of roman-style pizza, burgers and salads.
There is a solid slate of alcoholic beverages which comprise of expertly-crafted cocktails, beers, and an array of wines and champagne from around the world. In addition they serve divine frozen cocktails which are perfect on hot summer days.
The restauarant has a beautiful indoor and outdoor lounge area plus seating around an outdoor patio firepit. This establishment has a casual but classy atmosphere and is a great spot for weekend brunch and afternoon drinks.
Crawford Social is open late seven days a week. Hours are Monday to Thursday 11am to 11pm, Friday & Saturdays 11am to 12am. Weekend brunch hours are 10am to 3pm. Happy hour is from 2pm to 5pm on weekdays.
Moody Rooster in Westlake Village
The Moody Rooster is a restaurant in Westlake Village known for its impressively creative and innovative cuisine. On the menu is a small selection of beautiful pasta dishes that come with Japanese sea scallops, wild boar, or fennel sausage. However the most popular pasta dish here is the crispy gnocci served with cherry tomatoes, basil and parmesan fondue.
Also on their menu is a range of tasty vegetable dishes like Harissa carrots (served with hummus, chick peas, almonds, and turmeric) and smoked eggplant (served with orange, pickled onions, pistachio brittle, tahini sauce, and micro greens).
One of the highlights here is the Hawaiian Kampachi sashimi with peach, pistachios, thai chili oil and micro greens drizzled with passion fruit vinaigrette. The sauteed Spanish octopus is really good too.

Moody Rooster pride themselves on using quality ingredients; seafood is wild caught or sustainably farmed, and meats are organic and do not contain antibiotics. Even the sourdough used for flatbreads is homemade.
This is fine dining done in an unpretentious way. The high qaulity ingredients make menu items a little on the pricey side but the taste more than makes up for the slighly higher costs. If you enjoy adventurous culinary experiences, this is the place for you!
Moody Rooster is open Monday through Thursday from 11.30am to 9pm, Friday from 11.30am to 10pm, and Saturday from 5pm to 10pm. They are closed on Sundays.
Fogo de Chao in Thousand Oaks
Fogo de Chao offers an upscale Brazilian dining experience where you can indulge in all-you-can-eat meat carved tableside just for you! They specialize in southern Brazilian cuisine serving churrasco-style barbecued meats alongside traditional side dishes.
If you’re not familiar with the Fogo de Chao dining experience, what happens is a waiter will continuously bring a selection of fire-roasted meats to your table that will be carved onto your plate until you are satisfied.
Meats consist of sirloin, ribeye, lamb chops, and pork belly to name a few. For an additional cost, you can add premium cuts like Wagyu New York Strip, dry-aged Tomahawk steak, and roasted bone marrow.
