Entering Eve’s Garden felt like discovering a secret garden in the desert. The colorful exterior immediately reminded me of visiting Bali and Mexico— bright, cheerful, and perfectly imperfect in the most charming way.

Upon arrival, the host greeted us warmly and offered a quick tour of the property, pointing out thoughtful little touches along the way like the indoor swimming pool, outdoor fire pit, and common kitchen area.

All of the rooms are centered around an indoor garden atrium complete with a water fountain, cozy seating nooks, and plenty of inviting spots to sip coffee in the morning.

Also inside the atrium is a shared kitchen for guests stocked with complimentary tea and coffee, plus a microwave, fridge, plates, cups, and cutlery. Early risers won’t have to brew their own coffee though because the host prepares it for guests each morning. It’s a real time saver if you’re in a mad rush to get to Big Bend National Park like we were.

I was delighted to learn that our host enjoys baking treats for guests. During my stay, she made a scrumptious fruit cake, which I happily indulged in as a bedtime snack after a long day of hiking.

I also discovered another perk of staying at Eve’s Garden is complimentary beer on tap for guests (yes, really), which completely surprised me. You can literally pour yourself a pint any time of day. A breakfast beer? Why not!

The beer is locally made by Brick Vault Brewery right in town. During my visit, they were featuring a blonde ale. While it’s not usually my go-to (I’m more of a hops lover), I still thought it was a fun and unexpected touch that felt perfectly suited to a West Texas road trip.

I loved wandering around the garden atrium, discovering tucked-away seating areas and artistic surprises throughout the space.

If I hadn’t been heading out for long days of hiking, I would have happily spent more time slowing down here with a cup of coffee. That’s why I recommend adding an extra night or two if your schedule allows as this is the kind of place where one night simply isn’t enough.

One of the most unexpected highlights is the indoor pool, complete with a crystal disco ball overhead. While it was too cool to use during my November stay, I can easily imagine it being a welcome retreat during the heat of summer.

Outside, there’s a shaded area with games beneath a beautiful tree, along with a fire pit that’s perfect for cool desert evenings. Upstairs, a rooftop viewing area offers front-row seats for sunsets and stargazing under West Texas’s famously dark skies.

Each room is hand-built with curved walls, bright colors, and thoughtful artistic details throughout. One thing to note is there’s no TV, which really isn’t a big deal as it only adds to the peaceful, unplugged feel of the stay.

My room was painted a bold royal blue and featured a very cool domed roof, along with a huge bed complete with cozy blankets. An electric fireplace added extra ambiance, and there was a mini fridge for storing snacks and drinks.

The bathroom was painted a bright sun-orange and continued the property’s playful design with arched doorways. A private outdoor patio was connected to my room, where I watched the sunset and soaked in the quiet desert views.

I was lucky enough to stay two nights and enjoy two wonderful breakfasts; one morning featured waffles with fresh fruit and scrambled eggs from a local source, while another included omelettes with delicious mushrooms alongside an impressive grapefruit Alaska. All dishes were accompanied by freshly squeezed juice.

You could tell each dish was thoughtfully prepared and made with genuine care. The breakfasts here are incredibly satisfying, and perfect fuel before a full day of hiking in Big Bend or a long drive onward to El Paso or elsewhere on your West Texas adventure.
