My experience staying at the Colcord Hotel in Oklahoma City
I stayed at the Colcord Hotel during a trip to Oklahoma City that blended both work and leisure, and it quickly became one of the highlights of my visit.
From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I was genuinely impressed. Original marble floors, vintage elevator doors, and elegant crown molding immediately set the tone for the stay. The space exudes old-world grandeur… so much so that even if youโre not staying here, the lobby alone is worth a visit and a quick peek (hint hint).
The staff were equally memorableโespecially the bell team who consistently greeted me with warm smiles and offered help with directions or recommendations whenever I came and went.
My guest room was overwhelmingly spacious, with plenty of room for a king bed, sitting area, executive desk, and then some. I was delighted to find gourmet chocolates from Le Belge waiting for me on the bed.
The in-room bar cart was another thoughtful touch, stocked with a curated selection of snacks and drinks including cashews, cookies, chips, candy, and sodas (the most choice I’ve ever seen in a hotel) โ with clearly listed prices (shocking, I know) which was truly appreciated.
As for the roomโs design, it felt both sophisticated and elegant, featuring patterned wallpaper for an old-world charm vibe, plush carpeting, refined seating, and pops of orange that added a playful touch. It was definitely not cookie-cutter. Warm neutral tones made the space feel incredibly relaxing.
The sitting area quickly became my favorite spot to enjoy morning coffee and breakfast, complete with a comfy couch and armchair. It was nice to have multiple seating areas to watch tv and get work done on my laptop during my stay.
The king bed was exceptional, with soft pillows that made it easy to drift off at night. Bedside USB ports were perfect for charging devices (and enabling lazy mornings in bed), and of course there was a large flat-screen TV across from the bed.
A spacious desk positioned near the window made working from the room a pleasure, and I enjoyed opening the blackout curtains to watch storms roll through downtown. In fact, on my first morning there, a possible tornado was even in the forecastโfortunately, nothing serious developed. Just another summer’s day in Oklahoma, right?
To top it all off, there was a Nespresso machine in the rooom, something I was especially thankful for since most hotels default to Keurig machines (which I personally canโt stand). It was a small detail, but it made my mornings that much better.

In the bathroom, LโOccitane bath products added a touch of luxury, while a spacious wardrobe provided ample room to hang clothesโconvenient for longer stays or extended business trips. Inside the wardrobe, I found cozy bathrobes and plush slippers waiting, thoughtful extras that made my stay even more exciting.
Additional amenities at the Colcord Hotel include a 24-hour fitness center equipped with cardio machines, free weights, and strength-training equipment, along with valet parking available for $25 per day.

Location-wise, the Colcord truly shines. Situated in the heart of downtown Oklahoma City, itโs adjacent to Myriad Botanical Gardens and within walking distance of Scissortail Park, the Skydance Pedestrian Bridge, Bricktown, and many of the cityโs top dining spots.
Mahogany Steakhouse sits just across the street (which I highly recommend), and the hotel itself offers two excellent dining options. Downstairs you’ll find FLINT, serving elevated American cuisine, and Vast, located on the 49th floor of the connected Devon Tower (where sweeping city views are sure to wow you!).
Over the past several years, Iโve been fortunate to stay at several top hotels in Oklahoma City, and this one truly tops the list. If you havenโt yet decided where to stay on your trip to OKC, I hope this helped narrow down your optionsโbecause in this city, it can be surprisingly hard to choose.
