Skydance Pedestrian Bridge, Oklahoma City

Skydance Pedestrian Bridge

The Skydance Pedestrian Bridge is one of Oklahoma City’s top attractions and tourists from across the state and country travel just to see and photograph this magnificent structure.

The design of the bridge is said to have been inspired by the ‘sky dance’ of the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher bird. The 380-foot long pedestrian bridge soars over Interstate 40 with the sculptures wings reaching 185 feet into the air.

The Skydance Pedestrian Bridge connects the upper and lower sections of Scissortail Park, a 70-acre urban oasis which extends from the core of downtown Oklahoma City to the shore of the Oklahoma River.

The forty acre Upper Scissortail Park which is closer to downtown is the best side to begin your walk over the iconic landmark.

Scissortail Park is located at 300 SW 7th Street between Hudson and Robinson Avenues. You can find street parking along Robinson Avenue.

The visually stunning foot bridge allows pedestrians to freely cross the highly congested I-40 Interstate Highway.

After dark the pedestrian bridge is lit up in bright pink and blue hues making the landmark even more captivating and impressive looking.

During the holidays the city will light the bridge in specific colors that represent each special holiday occasion or season, for example during the Christmas holidays the bridge will be lit in Christmas colors.

Another good place to view the bridge or take photos from a distance is from Robinson Avenue. The photo taken below was taken from Robinson Avenue. From this vantage point you will be able to fit the entire bridge into the shot.
